3 year spayed Female Belgian Malinois

Needs a quiet Rural location with a large garden/land to continue her training.

Meg cannot be rehomed with cats or other small furries due to her high prey drive. She also cannot go to a home with young folk under the age of 16 years old

Our clever girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s had the most amazing time with her foster mum living her best life in the beautiful countryside of South West Scotland. After nearly a year in foster Meg is now looking for someone to continue with her training; an experienced foster who is confident and knows the Malinois breed and its traits well.

Whilst Meg has improved in many aspects of her training she is still considered to be car, bike, runner, horse and wildlife reactive. Further work is required in this area of her training.

Meg also gets very excited and needs some manners around other dogs, her play style can be rough and tumble! She currently has an older large high pray drive doggy friend that she likes to play with. She could perhaps be re-homed with a similar type large breed who could show her how to act around other dogs but, several meets will be required to ensure that this would work out.

Meg can be distrustful around people she doesn’t know, particularly men, and therefore, any applicant would have to be patient and confident in gaining her trust.

Meg finds the outside world overwhelming and it takes very little to send her over threshold. She may redirect her anxiety to her handler. This is an area that any potential foster would have to work on and be confident in doing so. She’s not used to busy, City or suburban areas which can easily over stimulate her.

Meg can settle well in the house, provided her set up is correct and she can be left alone in her crate for up to 4 hours.
She travels well but, she must be contained within her crate. Meg is muzzle trained and has been attending an obedience class but, she can find the whole experience too much and can easily become overly excited and unable to cope.

Meg likes a game of tug, ball and can do some basic scent work. Whilst she would enjoy obedience, mantrailing, and agility work this couldn’t be at a competitive level as she finds those activities too hyped an environment.

Any prospective foster would need to be confident and committed and continue her training on a daily basis. She needs to have lots of mental stimulation to keep her busy and to ensure that negative behaviours don’t set in. Meg has worked with a behaviourist and has improved in certain areas.

Any prospective foster or adopter will need to have several meets with Meg and be willing to transport to her current foster home in the South West of Scotland.
