SKY · Age - 5 years old - 23/09/20 - Chipped · Breed - Jack Russell Terrier Cross · Neutered · Fully Vaccinated · Toilet Trained – Yes · Children- No · Dog friendly - he can be reactive on walks but with correct handling he quickly settles and will be friendly when introduced to new dogs correctly. He currently lives with another dog and we feel he could live with other dogs after the correct introductions. He will need to be fed separately but will take treats very gently next to the resident dog. · Cat friendly – No and will chase them outside of the home. · No small animals or feathered animals He does have a prey drive and will chase squirrels and birds outside the home and in his garden. If you can catch him before he triggers you can rectify the behaviour as he has had training for this but you need to be quick.
· Sky is a lovely boy who loves to play! He will bring his ball back to you all day and will never tire – but if you do, then he will switch to a tug game. He will also play happily with the resident dog although it can sound aggressive at times, it has never been so far. He will also place his toys on your lap or in your hands nicely as a subtle hint to play fetch with him.
· He can be very vocal when he hears a sound he is not used to – that can include (but not limited to) fireworks, bin men, the vacuum, window cleaners, post men and random doors closing in your street! You can train this out of him over time but this will need to continue, as a new home will bring new sounds that you will need to be alerted to!
· The commands he knows are Sit, Stay, Come, Paw, Drop and Leave it (although he might not always hear you saying the last one). He also has really good recall (for a JRT) provided you offer enough treats.
· Sky loves going on walks and he loves being in the car going to new adventures. He is very calm before leaving the house and getting his harness on, but can get over stimulated in the car on the journey. He knows that he is not allowed out of the car for the walk until he settles again. His favourite part of a walk is chasing a ball on a long training line and he will fetch the ball back every time although his leave can be intermittent.
· Sky will need continued training for his reactivity while out on walks. · He is a very sweet loving boy that will jump up on your lap and give you cuddles and kisses (once he knows and trusts you), but he has some trigger areas that you need to be wary off as he can go from sweet to snarling in under a second. He allows us to hold his paw now before food is given.
· Sky struggles in enclosed areas with high volumes of people moving around so he will need training in his new vet practice and any shops you might want to take him too but it would be best to avoid these as much as possible. If anyone is interested in offering the gorgeous little lad a home please complete our enquiry form with as much information as possible and his coordinator can take a look to see if you are a match.www.anydogildorescue.org/adoptionform.html
